Remove EXIF and Location Data from Photos

Photos from phones and cameras often carry hidden details, such as where and when they were taken and which device took them. Add your photos to see what each one contains, then remove it before you share them. Everything happens in your browser.

Loading the tool…One moment — files never leave your device

Step 2: See what is hidden in them

After you add photos, this shows the hidden information found in each one.

Questions

What information does this remove?
It removes EXIF data such as GPS location, camera make and model, date taken and camera settings, plus XMP data, IPTC captions, comments and text notes. In JPG files it also removes extra embedded images such as previews.
Will removing the data reduce image quality?
No. The picture is not re-saved. Only the information blocks are cut out of the file, so the quality and size in pixels stay exactly the same. Color profiles are kept so colors don't change.
Will my photo still be the right way up?
Yes. If a photo uses a rotation setting to display correctly, only that one setting is written back, so it looks the same as before without any personal details.
What if a photo has no hidden data?
The tool tells you before you start. Photos with nothing to remove are returned unchanged.
Are my photos uploaded to check them?
No. Photos are read and cleaned in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
